Born 1977 in Pöttmes, Bavaria, Mona Neubaur came to North Rhine-Westphalia in 1997 and soon called the Rhinelands her home. After graduating as Diplom-Pädagogin in 2003, she worked in the energy industry before joining the Heinrich Böll Foundation NRW, where she served four years as managing director. From 2014 to 2022 she led the state branch of the Green Party in North Rhine-Westphalia. In December 2021, Mona Neubaur was nominated lead candidate for the 2022 state elections. On 15 May 2022 she entered the NRW Landtag as a member of parliament. On 29 June 2022 she was sworn in as Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy. The Premier, Hendrik Wüst, also appointed her his deputy.
