Lars Baumgürtel is managing director and sole owner of the ZINQ group, Europe`s market leader for hot-dip galvanizing zinc surfaces with over 50 locations and 550.000 t steel protected form corrosion every year. As a graduate of the double degree program of the Otto Beisheim School of Management (WHU Koblenz) and the Lyon School of Economics (EM Lyon), his academic focus was in the areas of entrepreneurship, branding and production sciences. Lars Baumgürtel is the current president of the North Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

In 2025, Lars Baumgürtel was awarded the prestigious German Environmental Prize (Deutscher Umweltpreis) for the circular business model Planet ZINQ (together with his managing director colleague Dr. Birgitt Bendiek).
