Dr. Christel Wies has been Head of Department 5 – Environment and Occupational Safety – at the Münster District Government since December 2014. Previously, Dr. Wies worked for the Ministry of the Environment of North Rhine-Westphalia, from 1996 as Head of Division for various waste management departments, and earlier, from 1993, as a policy officer for waste management. She is originally from Dülmen. She studied chemistry at the University of Münster and completed her doctorate in 1989.
